My name is Liz, and I am a packrat. Maybe even a bit of a hoarder. I came by this behavior honestly, as both my parents (and grandparents aplenty) are packrats. I am sure that my grandpa qualified as a true hoarder, as you couldn’t get through his garage without a flashlight and a map.
I never thought of myself as much of a packrat because I could easily get my stuff to look pretty organized. But, whenever I try to move, I come into contact with everything I own… and let me tell you, that is a lot. Last year, I switched over to digital scrapbooking to save time, money, and space. BUT I still have a craft-store’s worth of stuff for traditional scrapbooking. Albums, and stickers, and papers, oh my! I can’t bear to part with it! I spent good money on that shit and one day I WILL use it.
I did have to have an intervention with myself to keep from buying even MORE stuff. Michaels and Hobby Lobby are really from the devil. And Office Depot.
Oh yeah… I also hoard office supplies. And bathroom stuff. *sigh*
We finished moving all of my non-furniture stuff over today and the place is a wreck. I don’t know how it will ever find a home. But, I have faith that it will. Eventually. In the meantime, the knight, Lucy and I might all go insane. But who better to go insane with than your family, right?
I have such plans for everything to be puppies and princesses as soon as the furniture is moved in. After all, that is where everything “goes”, right? At least that is what I keep telling myself. So, for now, I just keep on plugging away. The Knight is also opening up collectible toys in order to clear out more shelf space. May God have mercy on all of us.
My new mantra: Progress, not Perfection.
Ooooooohhhhmmmmmmmm…
Namasate, bitches.
I love that — Progress; not Perfection. You may have just saved my life, E!
Ha! I know it too well, one saturday morning I decided to clean out my bathroom cabinets. Deciding that the best way to organize would be to pull everything out and onto the floor. Needless to say, dh was not able to use the bathroom until 5pm that night becuase he couldn’t walk through to get the the toilet.
Anyway, to help you through your organization, you may want to try Flylady.net. I love her, and honostly need to get back up on the bandwagon.
