I have taken a few days off from writing to actually attempt to get some thing done in real life.
But! Today is one of my favorite days of the year! It’s the day my sweet husband, Paul, was born, 37 years ago. Paul is also an identical twin, so Happy Birthday to you, Phillip!
I know I have talked a lot about my husband since we met, but it still blows me away that I get to spend my life with him. We met 3 1/2 years ago, about two months after my divorce was final. Before I met him, I had a string of really bad first dates with 5 carbon copies of my ex-husband. When I met Paul online, he was very different from any of those other men. He was educated, smart, and strangely funny for someone who tells the worst jokes and puns you have ever heard!). We also had a ton of things in common, which, again, was totally against the grain of what I was used to. He was a geek, and openly so. So of course, I thought “This guys isn’t my type at all!”
Then Smarter-Liz said, “Well, your type sucks. And you clearly couldn’t pick a good date if you tried. So, let’s try the exact opposite and see how that works.” And it worked beautifully. I found someone who I could spend my life with while being myself completely, and loving who HE is completely. Life isn’t always perfect, but I don’t think it gets much better than this.
So, Happy Birthday, Paul!! I love you all the way to the moon and back!
This is GORGEOUS!!! I need to remember to write some positive blog posts from time to time…
consider me inspired!
Thanks!! My posts are usually more snarky than sappy, but he brings out the best in me. *insert swoon here*
